Boxing, heavyweight | Expert warns IBF world champion about Joshua

Daniel Dubois has made an impressive comeback with two victories after his defeat to heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in August 2023. The big coup is set to follow on September 21: a triumph over superstar Anthony Joshua. However, a British boxing expert has warned the IBF world champion against “AJ”.

Dubois has been the IBF world champion since June. Usyk had previously given up the belt to fight Tyson Fury for a second time instead of facing his IBF obligation to face Dubois. The association then upgraded the Englishman from “interim” title holder to full champion.

But Dubois still has to prove himself as such. On September 21, he will face superstar Joshua at London’s Wembley Stadium. The organizers, including promoter Eddie Hearn and Saudi puppet master Turki Al-Sheikh, have requested maximum capacity: 100,000 spectators are to attend the “Battle of Britain.”

Former cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew, however, does not believe the fight will last long. “I think Anthony Joshua will knock out Daniel Dubois within three rounds. Everything that Daniel Dubois can do well, Anthony Joshua can do better,” said the boxing expert on “Coin Poker”.

Boxing: Joshua has been very convincing recently

Bellew also doubts Dubois’ defense. Against his last opponent Filip Hrgovic, “he took 45 right hands in four rounds,” said the former world champion. “Against Anthony Joshua, he’ll take three and then he’ll wake up in the hospital. Anthony Joshua has dynamite in his gloves.”

Although Dubois is also a strong contender, Bellew estimates the 26-year-old’s chances against the experienced Joshua (34) as “30:70, 20:80”.

Joshua has won four fights since his second loss to Usyk in the summer of 2022. Under the guidance of his new trainer Ben Davison, he was particularly impressive in his knockout victories against Francis Ngannou in February and against Otto Wallin in December 2023.

Against Dubois, “AJ” wants to win a recognized world championship belt for the third time in his career.
