BPH is scary at first, but it is treatable

It is not exactly the most pleasant experience in a man’s life when he gets acquainted with the acronym BPH. It derives from the medical name “benign prostatic hyperplasia” and means “benign prostatic enlargement”. In connection with the word “benign”, many people often sigh, saying that it is not a disease that is synonymous with a death sentence.

However, you should not sit back, because untreated BPH can cause a serious deterioration in the quality of life. Our reader Gábor wrote his own story in response to a previous article about prostatitis. “I was diagnosed with BPH. When I found out, I had no idea where to put this information. The doctor said that non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate is a common phenomenon in men over 40. – introduced our reader.

Setting up a treatment plan

On the other hand, he was happy to know why he has to go to the toilet frequently at night, why he feels the frequent urge to pee, and why the stream of urine is so weak and intermittent even when he feels that he has to pee a lot. His doctor drew up a precise treatment plan for Gábor from the very beginning.

He recommended herbal preparations to help improve urination and relieve the urge to urinate frequently. Proper bladder emptying is very important. If this fails, then the stagnant fluid that remains there can be a breeding ground for bacteria, which can further complicate the patient’s life. Of course, if the symptoms can be alleviated, it means that the BPH can be kept at a level.

If someone is diagnosed early, there is no need for strong drugs, the use of herbal preparations can also help to keep the disease at a level. In more severe cases, however, it may happen that even drug treatment is not sufficient, but a surgical procedure is required. In this case, during a minor (TURP) intervention, the prostate part of it to improve urination. However, hopefully no one has to get to that point.

BPH 2 is scary at first, but it can be treated

That’s why it’s important to talk about it

At first, Gábor did not tell his partner what was wrong with him. He thought he was trying to treat his illness in secret without his loved one noticing. Why? Maybe he was ashamed, maybe he didn’t want to think of himself as someone who already had a disease. She was afraid of the possible consequences and did not want to go through with the surgery. However, one Saturday afternoon, his girlfriend found the drugs and suppositories. Gábor realized how unnecessary it was for him to keep all this to himself. Her lover said she would help and was completely understanding and accepting. He even jokingly added that he now understood why he used to stumble to the toilet at least 4-5 times at night.

Gábor would like to encourage all men that if they are faced with such a disease, they should not want to fight it alone, feel free to involve their partner, because at least they will understand and see what physical and mental processes they are going through.
