The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated the maximum pesticide residue limits to be applied in official controls of domestically produced and imported foods.

Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry‘s “Turkish Food The Regulation on Amendments to the Codex Regulation on Maximum Residue Limits of Pesticides entered into force after being published in the duplicate issue of the Official Gazette.

According to the information obtained from the Ministry, with the amendment made in the regulation, the maximum residue limits to be applied in the official controls of domestically produced and imported foods have been updated.

Current national and international scientific evaluations were taken into account in the limits to be applied to fresh fruits and vegetables, legumes, grains, tea and herbal infusions and animal foods produced in the country.

While residue limits were determined for the first time for some foods, the limits were reduced for many foods. Thus, compliance with European Union (EU) practices was achieved.

With the regulation, the maximum amount applied to imported foods pesticide Comprehensive changes were also made to residue limits. The changes were made taking into account the EU regulation regulating maximum residue limits of pesticides.

In this context, imported foods will be checked according to the new residue limits and will be allowed to enter the country.
