in Antalya The heavy showers and strong winds turned into a tornado in the evening hours in the Kemerağzı and Kundu neighborhoods of Aksu district.
The tornado, which was seen twice, shattered the nylon coverings of farmers’ greenhouses, bent iron constructions and damaged agricultural products.
Farmers who went to their greenhouses in the morning were saddened to see the damage. Damage assessment studies have been started in the greenhouses.
Damage will be assessed
Agriculture and Forestry Provincial Director Fırat Erkal inspected the damaged areas with Aksu District Manager İhsan İnal and his team.
In his statement, Erkal reminded the code orange warning announced by the General Directorate of Meteorology for Antalya.
Stating that heavy rain was effective in Aksu, Manavgat and Serik, Erkal said, “There were floods and floods in some places. All our teams took part in the field. Our work continues. We will complete our damage assessment work soon. We recommend our farmers to get insurance.” he said.
Floods occurred in Serik district due to strong winds and heavy rain.
Some sites, villas and roads in Belek District were flooded, and vehicles had difficulty moving on the flooded roads. Residents of villas and sites that faced floods supported the municipality’s work with a water engine. District Agriculture and Forestry Directorate teams also started damage assessment studies in agricultural areas.
Streams overflowed in Manavgat
Heavy rain and storms negatively affected life in the Çakış, Bereket and Denizyaka neighborhoods of Manavgat. Some agricultural areas and greenhouses were damaged as a result of the overflow of streams.
Manavgat Chamber of Agriculture President Rasim Metin stated that they inspected the damaged areas in the district and made an effort day and night to support the farmers who were damaged by the disaster.
Stating that they will start damage assessment studies in the region as of Monday, Metin said, “We are constantly in the region. We do our best to help our farmers. So far, 72 of our victimized producers have applied to TARSİM. I wish all producers affected by the flood a speedy recovery.” he said.

On the other hand, a tornado occurred near Akçagerme Beach, 4 kilometers away from the center of Kaş district. The tornado did not cause any damage and lost its effect before reaching land. The tornado, seen from different points of the city, was recorded with a mobile phone camera.
A tornado occurred in the Kurşunlu District of Aksu district in the evening. Due to the tornado, some greenhouses, agricultural lands, and the roofs of houses were damaged and trees fell. There were floods due to the heavy rain in the district.
Headman of Kurşunlu District, Musa Dönmez, said that the downpour was effective in the district. Stating that a tornado occurred in the evening, Dönmez stated that damage was caused to the roof of a house and more than one greenhouse and agricultural area.
