Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz evaluates the agenda in the joint broadcast of Habertürk TV and Bloomberg HT…
The highlights from Yılmaz’s statements are as follows:
I pray to God to have mercy on Ismail Haniyeh, who was martyred in this treacherous and vile attack. I offer my condolences to all humanity that stands for the oppressed and justice. The vile attack on Haniyeh, who was the interlocutor in the peace talks, is an attack on peace.
With this attack, we see that an attempt is being made to cover up the genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes that we have all witnessed in Gaza.
An attack aimed at covering up the crime of the Netanyahu administration being tried for genocide under international law. I would like to state that this will never be successful. As Turkey, we state that we always stand by the oppressed Palestinian people.
“This fire will have global repercussions”
We call on all responsible international administrations to do their jobs again. In order to prevent this fire from spreading to the region, it is very important that the current administrators of Israel, we can no longer call them administrators, the group that acts like a gang, be stopped as soon as possible. This attack will have global repercussions.
There cannot be peace in the world without peace in the Middle East. We need to come together as humanity that defends virtue and justice against all of this and stand strongly against this. Turkey and our President have always been pioneers in this regard. We will continue in the same way from now on. I hope that the unity and solidarity of the Islamic world and the unity and solidarity of the different groups in Palestine will increase.
“It’s truly a mind-numbing thing”
This is not just the Haniyeh issue. Just yesterday, an attack was carried out on Lebanon in violation of international law. The Netanyahu administration does not want a ceasefire or peace. It is trying to destroy the Palestinian people. It is trying to spread this by spreading conflicts to the region and creating different hostilities.
This is a dangerous approach. Our region needs peace and stability. A permanent peace, a just peace is needed. The current administration shows with its actions that it is not inclined to this. As acts of genocide and crimes against humanity increase, we have begun to see an awakening in the conscience of humanity. The number of countries recognizing the state of Palestine has begun to increase.
In this whole process, we see the intention to continue these acts of genocide by distracting from the main focus. Humanitarian aid needs to be delivered to children, the elderly, the sick, and civilians. We cannot talk about reason, conscience, or justice right now. There is truly an eclipse of reason. I think that the standing ovation given to Netanyahu in the US Congress is questioned in the conscience of humanity.
“Hopefully there will be more unity and solidarity”
Everyone who defends humanity needs to raise their voices. The Israeli administration is trying to spread the incident to the region as an escape from these, and to cover up what they did in Gaza by confronting different actors. They will not be able to do this.
We wholeheartedly believe that the oppressed and the righteous will eventually win. As Turkey, we are making every effort with diplomacy, we have cut trade, we will take all kinds of responsibilities including being a guarantor. God willing, there will be more unity and solidarity first in the Islamic world. Then as humanity. God willing, we will see these scenes, which are the shame and disgrace of humanity, disappear as soon as possible.
Our Parliament Speaker announced that he will attend the funeral. We will share it with the public when it is clear. Turkey will continue to voice the Palestinian cause with the loudest and strongest voice on every platform from every angle and take every step that can be taken. We are the country that provides the most aid to Gaza. It has completely stopped its trade. It will continue to stand by the Palestinian people with all its diplomatic power from the Turkish states to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, from the UN to NATO.
