At CES 2025, Brelyon presented theUltra Reality Extenda particularly exotic immersive monitor which seems to have had a small impact with visitors to the show.
Presented as the “ first commercial multifocal screen » in the world, this device is able to emulate the sense of depth that normally only exists in virtual reality headsets in a format much closer to a traditional PC monitor – with all that that implies in terms of ease and comfort of use.
Thanks to this optical and software magic trick, the Ultra Reality Extend offers a fairly gigantic field of view, much larger than its dimensions suggest. In practice, these virtual images based on OLED technology can reach the 122 inches at a depth of 2.5 meterswhile the frame of the object only measures 30 inches and a few tens of centimeters deep!
And « generative display system » versatile and immersive
But Brelyon’s concept goes even further. The brand even describes it as “ generative display system », and for good reason: it has integrated a bunch of features based on artificial intelligence. For example, the device is able to assign a well-defined depth to each part of the image, further enhancing the impression of perspective and opening the way to applications that are simply not possible with a conventional monitor. For example, the “virtual camera” through which the image is transmitted can focus on different elements of the scene as the human eye would do with different objects in the real world, for a particularly immersive result.
The brand believes that its product could work wonders in several areas, from entertainment for individuals to niche applications for the professional world: films, video games, flight simulators… the potential of this concept seems almost unlimited. The only problem is that this gem of engineering will obviously be quite expensive; according to Engadget, the company is targeting a price between $5,000 and $8,000 per unit (€4,850 to €7,760 at the current exchange rate).
Despite everything, it will be very interesting to follow this device which could land on the market in the relatively near future; It’s not every day that we see truly original and innovative technologies arrive in the world of images, and we can’t wait to see if this rather fascinating idea will succeed in finding a place on the market!
