John Mayall, the pioneering British blues singer and musician, died on Monday at the age of 90.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that John Mayall passed away peacefully at his home in California on July 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. The health issues that forced John to end his epic touring career have finally led him to peace,” read a statement shared on the artist’s Facebook.
The “British Blues” marked England in the 60s. In an interview with the newspaper The Guardianthe musician explained that this style “has to do with the raw honesty with which (he expresses) our life experiences”.
John is survived by his six children, Gaz, Jason, Red, Ben, Zak and Samson, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
