The European Commission will analyze the information sent by Apple about the guarantees that its iPadOS operating system meets all the requirements of the Digital Markets Law, it was announced this Monday.
According to a statement from the community executive, Apple published, on November 1, a compliance report on the measures adopted to ensure that iPadOS complies with the Digital Markets Law (DMA) and which will now be analyzed by Brussels .
For the Commission, Apple should, inter alia, allow users to set the default web browser of their choice in iPadOS, but also allow alternative app stores in its operating system and accessory devices such as headphones and smart pens , access iPadOS features.
If the Commission concludes that Apple’s solutions do not comply with the DMA, the Commission will take formal implementation measures as provided for in the DMA.
