The general secretary of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, stated this Sunday that he wants “fuck stability”if it depends on a State Budget that puts pressure on the overwhelming majority of Portuguese people to continue to benefit the “small customary minority”.
During a meeting with communist militants in Braga, Raimundo expressed his conviction that there will really be a Budget for 2025“because one of them will have to give in”, and therefore called for the discussion to focus on the content of the document and not on the way it will be approved.
“What is the purpose of this Budget? It serves to make life difficult for the majority to safeguard the interests of a few. Is a Budget like this good for the country? A Budget like this is of no use to the country.. And we say more, excuse the expression, but there are also limits to everything: to hell with stability”, he said. For the communist leader, the stability of the Budget and the policy of the Government led by Luís Montenegro “results in the instability of millions and millions of people”.
“We are concerned with the stability of the lives of the majority and not with the stability of a policy at the service of a handful. at the service of a small minority”, he stressed.
Therefore, he urged the Government and other parties to stop talking about the form of the Budget and to “stop blackmailing” about the way the document is approved, to focus on what matters, the content.
“Talk about the content, because that’s where you decide which options are positive or negative,” he challenged.
He assured that the PCP and the CDU will be “clearly and coherently” where they have always been, alongside the majority, with “clear options to respond to the majority’s problems”.
“We don’t need just any Budget, we need a Budget that corresponds to and is part of a political alternative that responds to the country’s problems and meets the needs of the majority of our people”, said Paulo Raimundo.
The gathering took place on the river beach of Merelim S. Paio, the only parish in the municipality of Braga led by a communist junta.
A circumstance taken advantage of by Raimundo to appeal to the mobilization of activists, with a view to the 2025 local elections.
