By September 2024, Russians spent 189 billion rubles on foreign goods

Over the entire last year, Russians spent 197 billion rubles on foreign goods, writes “Kommersant”. Moreover, before the crisis – in 2021 – this figure was 317 billion rubles. In 2022, spending fell by almost half (1.8 times), but over the past two years it has been growing slightly.

It is unlikely that it will be possible to fully restore pre-crisis indicators. Experts understand the difficulties of logistics and restrictions: for example, the threshold for duty-free import of premium goods into the Russian Federation has decreased to €200, that is, five times.

The trend of increasing cross-border purchases through online platforms in comparison with previous years is confirmed in the consulting company CORE.XP, in the CDEK.Shopping service (an increase in the number of purchases on average 60%, but the average bill decreased by 15.5%), in the analytical center T -Data (here they state an increase of only 8%).

In Wildberries, the share of foreign goods remained at the same level (maximum fluctuations do not exceed 3% in both directions). The most popular categories of purchases in other countries remain electronics and clothing and footwear.
