C-FARMS. Vredi.

The C-FARMS project, which started in August 2024, aims to increase the resilience of the border region of Serbia and Hungary to climate change, with a special emphasis on agriculture. The project aims to raise the level of knowledge and awareness of the consequences of climate change in this sector, as well as to develop and apply new technologies to mitigate their negative effects. The project is part of the Interreg IPA VI-A Hungary-Serbia program and is financed with the help of the European Union, with a total budget of 195,339.75 euros, of which 166,038.78 euros comes from EU funds. The completion of the project is planned for January 2026.

The border region between Serbia and Hungary faces significant climate challenges. This requires cooperation and joint efforts in adapting agriculture to climate change. The goal of the C-FARMS project is to increase the region’s resilience to climate change. At the same time, the goal is to improve the application of technological solutions that can reduce negative consequences. One of the key goals is to achieve climate neutrality in agriculture. This will be done through technologies that reduce CO₂ emissions, carbon sequestration and more efficient land management.

C-FARMS is a real sign of progress

The project includes the establishment of “Living Labs”, which will be used to test and demonstrate various technologies that can contribute to carbon sequestration and soil recarbonization. Some of the technologies that will be tested include the application of organic ground covers (such as cover crops and mulch), plant nutrient management, reduced tillage, crop diversification and the application of digital technologies in agriculture.

In addition to the implementation of these technologies, the project will organize workshops, trainings, study trips and conferences on climate change and land recarbonization. Through these activities, the project will contribute to promoting the principle of climate neutrality in agriculture and the sustainable use of land as a natural resource.

The project was implemented with the financial support of the European Union through the Interreg VI-A IPA program Hungary-Serbia. That program encourages economic cooperation, development and environmental sustainability in the border region. The program also contributes to the preservation of the cultural and historical heritage and common identity of this region, as well as its environmental security.
