European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policies Josep Borrell answered journalists’ questions before a forum held in the Galicia region in northern Spain.
Borrell, the head of EU diplomacy, “A possible attack on nuclear facilities in the Middle East would be extremely dangerous, would lead to incalculable consequences and would only lead to an escalation of the war in the region, and it is the EU’s absolute request to prevent such an incident from occurring.” he emphasized.
Borrell reiterated his call for a ceasefire to stop Israel’s attacks on Lebanon and Gaza and to guarantee the return of all civilians to their homes.
Reminding that the EU decided to increase its humanitarian aid contribution to the region by 30 million euros to 100 million euros, Borrell also condemned Iran’s attack on Israel and said that this was of no benefit to the Palestinian cause.
Borrell, İsrail’in “persona non grata” reiterating its support for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who declared “for his work in the name of peace” He thanked Guterres for this.
Meanwhile, the Spanish government, which started to evacuate Spanish citizens living in Lebanon from this country, announced that the first flight departing from Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, will be in Madrid in the evening.
