Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Release Breaks Series Records

The latest game of the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which was released 1 month ago, has raised the bar even higher in terms of the success of the series so far.

Just days after the game’s release, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella was boasting about Black Ops 6’s launch performance in an earnings call. The company shared some stats today about just how big the game is, with the game currently being the biggest Call of Duty ever.

Official Call of Duty sharing revealed that Black Ops 6 is “No. 1 in Total Players” in the series. This applies to the numbers seen in the first 30 days of launch. During the same time period, the game also reached the “No. 1 in Hours Played” and “No. 1 in Total Matches” rankings in the 21-year streak.

Although exact sales figures have not been announced yet, the game has been released on numerous current and last-gen platforms. These include PC (Steam, Battle.net and Microsoft Store) and Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Being the first Call of Duty game to launch on Xbox and PC Game Pass on day one probably helped a lot in reaching huge player numbers. Still, the game performed quite well on platforms other than Game Pass. Microsoft CEO Nadella added that in October, Steam and PlayStation stores performed 60% better in sales compared to the previous Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 3.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is currently in its first season of content, and more maps, weapons, and other improvements will be added soon with the mid-season update.
