The organization, which is considered the most prestigious race in road cycling, continued with the 179.5-kilometer stage between Gap and Barcelonnette.
Completing the stage in 4 hours, 10 minutes and 20 seconds, Campenaerts came in first ahead of France’s Matteo Vercher (TotalEnergies) and Poland’s Michal Kwiatkowsk (Ineos Grenadiers).
Slovenian Tadej Pogacar of the UAE Emirates team, who won the Tour de France in 2020 and 2021, maintained his lead in the general classification. The Slovenian cyclist has a gap of 3 minutes and 11 seconds between himself and his closest follower.
The 19th stage of the Tour will be held tomorrow on the 172.8km route between Moirans-en-Montagne and Poligny.
The 2024 Tour de France will conclude with the 21st stage in Nice on Sunday, July 21.
