Founded in Famalicão, in 1987, by Manuel Martins, Campicarn began by dedicating itself solely to the trade of cattle carcasses, and in 1998 it also started cutting and packaging beef meat.
Today, Carpicarn presents itself as the “leader of the beef industry in Portugal”, with a workforce of close to 400 workers and revenue that reached 158 million euros in 2023.
Meanwhile, the Martins family decided to go public with a strategic investor.
Last November, venture capital Growth Partners and Campicarn notified the Competition Authority (AdC) of the purchase of joint control over Carnes Campicarn, an operation that would receive the green light from the regulator at the end of that month.
And it was in the middle of the Christmas season that Campicarn opened its first point of sale directly to the end consumer, in Braga, having adopted its own brand Deliciosa to name the store Deliciosa do Mercado.
“The first B2C boutique of the Campicarn group showed up for you at the end of December 2024, in Praça – Mercado Municipal de Braga, to delight your 2025 with cuts of meat and ‘premium’ beef preparations that will make you a true chef “, emphasizes the company, this Thursday, January 9, in a statement.
“Belonging to the product portfolio of Carnes Campicarn, SA, whose ‘know-how’ dates back to 1987 inspired by the vision of its founder, Manuel Martins, Deliciosa returns to the heart of the brand – the city of Braga – to present us with a new image and new market segment”, explains the company.
