There are many young people who, unfortunately, can’t read or write, and maybe they haven’t even finished 8th grade, but they want to drive a car. In order to obtain a driver’s license, do you have to pass the Baccalaureate exam?
The driving school involves both practical and theoretical courses. This means that students will learn to drive a motor vehicle, but also the law.
Which means that all learners must read and remember the provisions of the traffic law. And at the end of the training, they take a theoretical exam, during which they answer grid questions on traffic rules.
They are not allowed to be accompanied or have someone else read their questions and answer choices.
Can you get a driver’s license if you haven’t taken the BAC?
Those who want to obtain the right to drive a motor vehicle must meet several conditions, imposed by law.
The person requesting the examination in order to obtain a driving license must:
- be at least 16 years old, for subcategories A1 and B1;
- be at least 18 years old, for categories A, B, BE, C, CE, C1, C1E and Tr;
- be at least 21 years old, for categories D, DE, Tb and Tv, as well as for subcategories D1 and D1E;
- be medically fit to drive motor vehicles in the categories and subcategories for which the examination is requested;
- has not been convicted, by a final court decision, for a traffic offense on public roads or for murder, assault or injury causing death, serious bodily injury, robbery or theft of a motor vehicle;
- or psychologically fit to drive motor vehicles or trams on public roads.
Therefore, the law does not require passing the Baccalaureate exam to obtain a driver’s license.
How many classes do you need to have to drive a car?
Over time, several options for imposing a minimum level of formal education for drivers have been analyzed.
One of the options was that those who want to obtain a driving license have at least 10 classes, which is the compulsory education in Romania.
Eventually, that idea was dropped, so it doesn’t matter how many grades you’ve completed or whether you’re literate or not.
„Regarding the introduction of the mandatory minimum education of 10 classes to obtain a driving license, we inform you that, at the moment, there is no such project at the DRPCIV level“, it is stated on the website of the Directorate of Permits and Car Registrations.
So, it doesn’t matter how many classes you have or whether you can read or not.
If you manage to pass both the practical and the theoretical part of the driving test, you can get the right to drive a car.
