The key is whether to accept Trump’s rival candidate

Harris’ campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement on Monday that “Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share the stage with Donald Trump,” adding that “Donald Trump would have no problem agreeing to this debate.”
The method proposed by CNN is identical to the CNN-hosted televised debate between Trump and then-Democratic candidate Joe Biden in June: no audience, and the same rules as when one candidate speaks, the other candidate’s microphone is turned off.
Candidate Harris was evaluated as having a “decisive victory” over candidate Trump in the ABC debate held on the 10th. That confidence appears to have played a role in this decision.
Trump said a second debate with Harris was still a possibility.
“I think I had a good debate and the moderators asked all the questions,” he said at a press conference held at a golf course in California on the 13th when asked about additional debate.
Trump then said, “Maybe I’m in the right mood. I don’t know.”
