Canon introduced the new FLXflow technology for the Arizona 1300 series of UV flatbed printers, which enriches this series with new features in the area of productivity and performance. The new FLXflow technology, formerly known as FLOW, offers not only the original “Hold” function that helps secure media on the flatbed without zones, but also new optional “Float” and “Instant Switch” functions that improve media handling.

More than 8,000 Arizona machine users around the world can benefit from FLXflow’s increased productivity, ease of use and application versatility.

Optimized productivity

The Arizona 1300 FLXflow supports a wide range of substrates and applications and is designed for the ever-growing mid-volume print production segment. As a result, large graphics printers and other print service providers (PSPs) can effectively offer a diverse range of services to customers in retail, interior decoration, packaging and industry.

The FLXflow system offers not only a patented method of fixation, but also media floating. It is equipped with three features – Hold, Float a Instant Switch – which allow users to move heavier and irregularly shaped media around the table faster and easier. Function Holdpart of the original FLOW technology, keeps media in place using a patented airflow technique. By automatically measuring and adjusting airflow levels to firmly and precisely hold different types of media in place, FLOW technology enables flexible positioning with far less masking required.

New feature Float drives air up from the table to create an air cushion that allows easy positioning of heavy or challenging substrates and reduces the risk of media damage or degradation. It also results in smoother registration of all media types, while the ability to “hover without shifting” allows for precise placement of multiple media at once. Function Instant Switch umožňuje obsluze snadno přepnout z režimu Hold to the regime Float using the foot pedal(s). This makes the printer easy to operate and easy to remove media from the table.

Greater flexibility

Customers who opt for the Arizona 1300 FLXflow technology can take advantage of Advanced Image Layout Controls, which allow for last-minute adjustments right at the printer. These include snapping and aligning an image to media, automatic cropping, pasting, grouping complex jobs, stepping and repeating, pitching, mirroring, and reassigning print modes. This increases flexibility in placing substrates on the table and reduces the waste of expensive materials. Productivity is also improved by PRISMAservis service support tools, which provide predictive maintenance and facilitate authorized remote support by qualified service technicians. All this increases the uptime.

Option to upgrade directly on site

Customers of the existing Arizona 1300 series with FLOW technology can upgrade their printer to the latest version with FLXflow technology, including the optional Float and Instant Switch features. The upgrade also includes Advanced Image Layout Controls features. PRISMA XL Suite workflow software is also available, providing preview functionality even for complex, multi-layered and textured jobs. The software allows for cost estimates and also shows users what the final product will look like before printing, while allowing them to make any necessary adjustments. On-the-fly upgradeability is part of Canon’s modular approach to technology and software solutions. It gives users access to the latest features available without having to re-invest in new devices. This extends the life cycle of the product.

Customers can also take advantage of the optional proCARE after-sales service program, which maximizes uptime by offering predictable maintenance and spare parts costs, preventive maintenance, remote support and rapid response. In addition, all Arizona printers are covered by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty, and the optional Arizona Extended Warranty Program is available for 3, 4, or 5 years.

“At Canon, we focus on the continuous development of our portfolio, communicating closely with the market and customers and developing our products, from the printer range to the supporting software. We are currently extending FLXflow technology, which we introduced in March of this year for the Arizona 2300 series, to the Arizona 1300 series. In doing so, we are bringing more and more of our customers the ability to be more versatile and deliver high-quality applications with even greater workflow efficiency and productivity. Thanks to the added ‘Float’ function, our FLXflow technology makes it much easier for the operator to work with irregular or heavy substrates and thus opens up possibilities for the production of an even wider range of applications.”

Embossed and textured printing for endless creativity

PRISMAelevate XL software is available for the Arizona 1300 FLXflow printer, enabling layered printing up to 4mm (0.157″) high, helping customers enhance and expand product offerings with bold and tactile graphics for embossing applications. Customers can try new applications such as high-quality, textured, permanent signage, product decorations, awards, decorative materials and packaging prototypes, as well as applications for the visually impaired.

Designed with sustainability in mind

The Arizona 1300 FLXflow has been designed with sustainability in mind, producing less waste and using less energy than its predecessors. FLXflow technology requires less masking and pads to hold media in place. Thanks to this, the amount of waste is reduced. These printers use LED-UV technology, so the range consumes at least 15% less energy compared to their UV-halide predecessors and offers energy-saving features such as print-on-the-first and instant-on functions. Its inks are UL certified. GREENGUARD Gold, which guarantees that prints can be used safely in hospitals, schools and other public places, for example.

Customers can also take advantage of Canon’s trade-in program where they can exchange their Arizona printers for new ones. Returned machines are inspected, serviced and prepared for sale as refurbished printers. This further extends the lifespan of Arizona printers.

The Arizona 1300 FLXflow is already on sale at accredited partners as well as direct Canon dealers.
