Tinder is already using AI to make it easier for its registered users to find a partner.
Since 2012, the world’s best-known dating app, Tinder, has been trying to replace Cupid with more or less success, which according to a data from two years ago, already has 75 million monthly users, and the number of subscribers has approached 11 million. The market-leading position is not given for free, you have to do something for it, for example by introducing new functions.
One of these novelties was announced last year by the Match Group behind the application, promising to provide matchmakers with a tool boosted by artificial intelligence that helps them choose the ideal profile picture.
He formally introduced himself the other day Photo Selector taking a freshly taken selfie or an earlier self-portrait as a starting point, it goes through the image file on our mobile and then selects the shots that can be considered as profile pictures. It automatically filters out group photos and does not ignore any photos that violate Tinder’s terms of use by default. After that, the user looking for a match only has to decide which profile picture to use.
According to a recent survey of 7,000 people, 52 percent of Facebook users have trouble choosing the right profile picture, and 68 percent believed that artificial intelligence could help with this. In addition, they can save time, as they spend an average of 33 minutes to find the photo they think is the best.
The company is currently testing Photo Selector on Android and iOS, and only in a few markets, but it hopes that the range of supported regions and platforms will expand soon.
