Captura, director Adi Voicu’s feature film debut, hits theaters on November 15

Bold, authentic and disturbingly intense, Capturethe feature film debut of director Adi Voicu, brings the audience a profoundly challenging experience that will be available from November 15 in cinemas.

When the protesters invade the center of Bucharest, the feeling of liberation from his own captivity, leads Sami to make direct contact with reality. Present behind the camera, he becomes the victim of the gendarmes who have just liberated University Square. The unexpected transition from the feeling of safety behind the camera to the harsh reality, makes him radically change his perception of his own universe.

Capture it is a true initiatory journey, a descent into hell, where the viewer experiences the abuse of power in its multiple forms: from the constraints of a fragile system to the degradation of the individual under the weight of internal pressures and the reality into which he is brutally thrown.

In 2012, participating in a demonstration, the director experienced firsthand the abuse of power by the authorities. Boarded in a gendarmerie van, he went through a real ordeal, an experience that would mark his perspective and become the source of inspiration for Capture. The film reconstructs fragments of that reality, transposing on the screen the intensity and drama of the direct confrontation with an abusive system.

The camera becomes the silent but unforgiving witness, revealing the raw reality in all its brutality. In an almost documentary style, the film manages to capture every nuance of action, violence and vulnerability, bringing the viewer into the middle of an intense and heart-wrenching story.

“The capture starts from my personal experience, which I recontextualized on a fictional level, trying not to alter the initial information.

I am extremely curious about the audience’s reaction in the cinema hall, exposed in front of an unadorned material in which action, violence and nudity are present in a reinterpreted form.

The film talks about the abuse of power, be it a thought system, a political system or a defense system. Throughout the film, the viewer will be able to observe the idea of abuse from different angles, going through this odyssey with the characters, living the feeling of being in the story, which offers a completely different experience than being at a distance as a mere spectator.”, declare Goodbye Voice.
