The Romanian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACAROM) announces that in June 2024, a number of 46,032 cars were produced in Romania, an increase of +11.32% compared to June 2023, respectively 41,328 units.
Of these, 24,505 units were produced in the DACIA plant in Mioveni and 21,527 units were produced in the FORD OTOSAN plant in Craiova.
For the first six months of 2024, automobile production stands at 292,378 units, an increase of +8.66% compared to the same period in 2023, i.e. 269,088 units, of which DACIA 169,998 units and FORD OTOSAN 122,380 units.
Car registrations in Romania: Significant increase in the first half of 2024
New car registrations in Romania registered a significant increase in the first half of 2024. According to official data, in June 2024, the number of new registered cars increased by 62.13% compared to June 2023, reaching 21,358 units. In the first six months of 2024, 83,505 new cars were registered, an increase of 13.11% compared to the same period in 2023, when 73,645 units were registered.
Second-hand cars registered for the first time in Romania also had a positive evolution. In June 2024, 25,550 second-hand cars were registered, an increase of 2.24% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the first six months of 2024, the number of registered used cars reached 151,546, up 22.76% from the same period in 2023, when 123,443 units were registered.
Top 10 most registered car brands
In the first six months of 2024, the ranking of new car brands registered in Romania is dominated by Dacia, with 26,018 units. The following top brands are:
- Toyota: 7,088 units
- Renault: 5,811 units
- Skoda: 5,779 units
- Hyundai: 4,852 units
- Volkswagen: 4,677 units
- Ford: 3,630 units
- Suzuki: 2,878 units
- Mercedes: 2,695 units
- BMW: 2,505 units
