Car production in Romania increased by 19% in October

Domestic car production in Romania increased in October by over 19%, compared to the same period last year.

According to the latest data published by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers in Romania (ACAROM), car production experienced a significant increase in October this year. Compared to the same period in 2023, domestic automobile production increased by 19.04% to 58,867 units.

As usual, the total is shared between the Dacia and Ford plants. Thus, the Dacia factory in Mioveni produced 31,030 cars last month, while 27,627 cars left the doors of the Ford Otosan factory in Craiova, for a total of 58,867 cars produced in Romania in October alone.

How many cars have been produced so far in 2024?

In the first ten months of 2024, automobile production stands at 466,838 units, an increase of 9.82 over the same period in 2023. In the first ten months of last year, ACAROM reported a production of 425,090 units. To the total of 466,838 cars produced in the first ten months of this year, Dacia contributes 259,676 units, while the Ford Otosan factory in Craiova produced 207,162 units.

If these values remain on an upward trajectory, there is every chance that 2024 will represent a record year for automobile production in Romania. In 2023, more than 511,000 cars were produced in Romania, by Dacia and Ford, and if these increases are maintained for the last two months of 2024, we could witness another record year for domestic production.
