The Supreme Court of the British Virgin Islands has ruled that Carlos Ghosn must give Nissan a 23-meter yacht as well as $32 million that he had illegally appropriated.
The ship, a Custom Line Navetta 37 built by Ferretti and named “Shachou”, which means “The Boss” in Japanese, has seven bathrooms, five cabins and four crew cabins.
Ghosh, who is in Lebanon, which refuses to extradite him to Japan to stand trial, had set up a labyrinthine chain of companies and their subsidiaries controlled by him or his family members, through which, the court heard, he laundered money of Nissan.
He denies any wrongdoing and said he was “appealing” the decision, with Nissan seeking an additional $102.5 million from Ghosn in a Japanese court. For his part, Ghosn has filed a lawsuit against Nissan in a Lebanese court seeking $1 billion in damages.
