Casio launches a smart ring for the company’s 50th anniversary

Casio marks a historic moment with the launch of its first smart ring, called the CRW-001-1JR.

This event is not just a simple product launch, but also a celebration of 50 years of digital watch experience for the renowned Japanese manufacturer.

Jewelry or gadget?

Although its dimensions are comparable to those of a coin, Casio’s first smart ring has a six-segment LCD screen, which retains the retro design that the Japanese brand is used to.

Wearers can see the time, date and even use the stopwatch function, all elegantly integrated into the new device.

Technology and attention to detail

The manufacturing process uses advanced powder metal injection technology, resulting in a premium ring finish.

The construction is made of polished stainless steel and gives the product not only durability but also an elegant appearance.

Unlike its direct competitor, Timex, which opted for an elastic band, Casio chose a traditional approach, offering the ring in one fixed size: US 10.5.

Functionality and autonomy

The smart ring is equipped with three functional buttons that allow the adjustment of the time zone and the activation of a silent alarm, which manifests itself through a flashing display.

The model is water-resistant and powered by a two-year battery that can be easily replaced.

Price and availability

With a launch price of around 121 euros, the gadget will initially be available in the Japanese market starting next month.

For users with thinner fingers, the manufacturer includes special spacers in the package that allow for size adjustment.

Those with larger fingers will have to look for other alternatives.

Looking to the future

This launch represents a significant evolution for Casio, which previously only created rings inspired by the iconic designs of its digital watches, but without actual functionality.

With the CRW-001-1J smart ring, the company brings a unique product to the market.

Industry speculation suggests that this launch could pave the way for even more ambitious developments in the future, perhaps even a computer ring for the company’s 75th anniversary.
