Catanzaro Biodiversity Park is a small treasure chest overflowing with colors, art, history and nature. This large structure has taken root in fairly recent years, starting from 2001when Michael Traversathe then President of the Province, expressed the desire to create a sort of oasis dedicated to nature and biodiversity, a true gift for the territory and an exemplary project of urban redevelopment.
The park, in fact, would have been built in one of the areas of the city of Catanzaro left abandoned and degraded, an area known as “Agraria”, where the Agricultural School of the same name was located.
From 2001 to today, the biodiversity park It has been enriched with ever new attractions, becoming an authentic point of reference for lovers of the open air.

The fauna of the park
Inside this green oasis you can also get to know some of the most interesting animal species. In addition to being a refuge and shelter for many creatures, the Mediterranean biodiversity park hosts a CRAS headquarters (Wild Animal Recovery Center).
Here, experts and veterinarians take care of wild animals in troubletake care of them and then release them back into the wild or, if this is not possible, adopt them into the garden.
Through educational and training meetingsCRAS also works to raise awareness and make the public understand the importance of protecting wildlife.
