California’s massive wildfires continue to rage and destroy neighborhoods in Los Angeles. The organizing committee of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028 are also afraid of the consequences.
The Los Angeles 2028 Organizing Committee addressed the current situation and took to social media to express its gratitude to firefighters, volunteers and other groups involved in the rescue. Among the most affected areas is the one where the prestigious Riviera Country Club, which is expected to host the Olympic golf tournament, is located. It was initially outside the evacuation zones, but the rapid spread of the fire in Palisades County due to winds of up to 100 mph put the club in the danger zone. Flames surround the area, which also borders natural attractions such as Topanga State Park.
Another critical site is the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area, which will host archery, BMX and skateboarding at the Olympics. While local firefighters are not reporting any property damage or injuries at this time, the situation remains volatile and could change at a moment’s notice. The risk is not limited to these two OI venues. The historic Rose Bowl Stadium, which is expected to host football games during the games, is also within Pasadena’s evacuation protocol area.

Clippers star Kawhi Leonard returned to Los Angeles to help the family evacuate. Warriors coach Steve Kerr lost his childhood home, but his mother was rescued in time.
Some coaches like JJ Redick from the Lakers, they lost their homes. The NFL has decided to move the game between the Vikings and the Rams from Inglewood to Glendale, Arizona due to the uncontrolled flames. The Rams also had to suspend their training sessions after further outbreaks of fires in the West Hills and were unable to resume them.
