Cavacism returns to the direction of the PSD in the figure of Leonor Beleza

It is always one of the headaches of a party leader, but Luís Montenegro made the composition of his choices for national bodies even more complicated because he chose to create “totally equal” lists.

We will have to wait to see the result of the vote, which only takes place this Sunday, before the end of the congress, but for now, Expresso found out, there is some discontent in the social democratic apparatus. Local structures saw several names they proposed for the national board rejected, in order to achieve a balance between the number of men and women on the board.

It was precisely a woman who was nominated for first vice-president of the PSD, but the choice has yet another political meaning: Leonor Beleza, now number two in the party, and a historic activist, was Minister of Health of Cavaco Silvaan inspiration permanently assumed by the current administration, regarding any and all political facts.
