The British athlete Jacob Fincham-Dukes achieved a lifetime result at the Olympics in Paris, which should also be adequately celebrated. However, as he bluntly admitted, nothing like that is out of the question. At the end of the week, he had to cut back on his job.

The 27-year-old athlete fought his way through the qualification to Tuesday’s final in the long jump, where he managed to record 8.14 m, which was enough for him to take fifth place overall. Only 0.2 meters separated him from the stage.
This is a great result for Fincham-Dukes, as he is only semi-professional in athletics. Thus, he can forget about financial support from British sports institutions.
Therefore, instead of celebrating, he went to pack for his trip home, as he was waiting to return to everyday reality. A native of the English city of Harrogate, he has been living in the USA for years, where he studied at the University of Oklahoma.
After school, he managed to get a job as a health and safety compliance inspector in Texas. He does sports before and after work in the office.
As the BBC said after his performance in Tuesday’s final, there will be nothing to celebrate, because he has to be back in Texas by Friday. “I think I didn’t embarrass myself here.
Since I have a regular job, I have to be back at work on Friday. So I also have to deal with stressful things that don’t concern these guys (professional athletes) at all.
The jumper, who drew attention to himself at the European Championships, is satisfied with his season. “I did well this year. Fourth place at the EC, now I’m fifth at the Olympics.
Fifth place at the Olympic Games was not expected of me, so I think I can be satisfied with my performance,” smiled the semi-pro, who was already sitting on the plane to Texas on Thursday.
