Celiacs can lose a contribution of 610 euros per year. The change is proposed by an amendment to the law from the workshop of the Ministry of Labor – Home Affairs – Administration

Celiacs can lose the dietary allowance, which amounts to 610 euros per year. Non-affiliated member of parliament Martina Holečková draws attention to the proposal of the Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic Erik Tomáš, who plans to cancel financial allowances for celiacs for diet meals.

These contributions currently amount to 50.86 euros per month, which would mean an annual loss of more than 610 euros per celiac patient. Holečková points to this situation in connection with the amendment to the Act on Integrated Assessment Activities, which the Ministry of Labor submitted for comment.

“After the coalition government refused to reduce the VAT on celiac food to 5% and the former health minister restricted the expenditure of food for celiac patients, this ‘welfare government’ comes with another incredible solution. Minister of Labor Erik Tomáš has decided that celiacs are doing very well, and that’s why he proposes to take away the financial allowance for dietetic meals from celiacs,” said the deputy.

According to Holečková, celiacs did not choose their disease, and must follow a strict diet, otherwise they risk not only deterioration of their health, but also a serious disease, for example of the carcinogenic type. She reminded that celiac bread costs 6 to 7 times more than regular bread. “However, at a time when people are facing massive price increases, Labor Minister Tomáš ignores all these facts. I therefore call on Erik Tomáš to amend the proposal and not cancel the financial allowances for celiacs for dietary nutrition,” concluded Martina Holečková.

“The intention of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family is not to explicitly exclude from Annex no. 1 certain disabilities, which means that some such persons could not be considered as physical persons with a severe disability,” the Department of Labor stated in response to the statements of Deputy Holečková.
