CES 2025: AMD Announces “World’s Best Gaming and Creative Processor”

After the quick announcement of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D last year, AMD comes with the expected stronger sibling. The company thus announces the Ryzen 9 9950X3D with the title of “the best processor for gamers and creators in the world”… and the 9900X3D.

The Zen 5 architecture saw its 3D V-Cache premiere with the mentioned 9800X3D and for AMD it was a great success. The processors are hopelessly out of stock and the processor has ranked among the best gaming processors today. But that changes with the arrival of two more pieces.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D will offer 16 cores and 32 threads. The architecture is similar to the 9950X, but the size of the cache memory is fundamentally increased, to 144 MB. The boost frequency goes up to 5.7 GHz with a 170 W TDP. The lower 9900X3D reduces the number of cores to 12, threads to 24 and boost frequency to 5.5 GHz. Likewise, the cache (140 MB) and TDP (120 W) are slightly lower. Both processors will be available in the first quarter.

The performance demonstration is of course exaggerated within the official tests, we have to wait a little longer for the real results. However, the 9950X3D is supposed to be 8% more powerful than the 7950X3D on average, and even 20% more powerful than the competing Intel Core Ultra 9 285K. AMD thus takes the title of the manufacturer of the best processor for gamers and creators.
