CES 2025: ASUS’ next-generation GeForce RTX VGAs are on the horizon

The company produced no less than two dozen models, although half of them only come as slightly tuned versions of the basic version.

NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 series video cards, codenamed Blackwell, were launched at CES, and the company’s partners, including ASUS, presented their own iterations.

The peak is represented by the first representatives of a new product family, the ROG Astral LC GeForce RTX 5090respectively ROG Astral LC GeForce RTX 5090 OC Edition report, and they were the only ones in the lineup to have water cooling, which works with a 38 mm thick, 360 mm radiator. The paired copper cold plate supplied with 80 amp MOSFETs and boasting a double BIOS chip covers all heat-generating components and is assisted in its work by an axial fan with a low-profile fin, which is responsible for cooling the voltage regulator module.

The four corners of the GPU are glued to the printed circuit board with a coating resistant to moisture, dust, and other dirt, which also includes two FanConnect II PWM connectors that enable direct control of our system cooling fans. The 288.46 mm long, 153.7 mm high and 48 mm thick 2.5-slot construction is powered by a 12+4-pin 12VHPWR connector, and 32 GB of GDDR7 VRAM using a 512-bit memory bus is at 28 GHz. ticks on effective clock.

On the I/O frame, there are three DisplayPort 2.1a versions next to the two HDMI 2.1b outputs, but the operating frequencies of the GPU equipped with a phase-shifting thermal pad are not detailed on the official website for the time being – in the case of other brand partners, only these and the type of power connector mentioned above we will indicate a deviation of

The “simple”, 357.6 x 149.3 x 76 mm, 3.8 slots ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 and ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 OC Edition its special feature is that their huge, three-fan cooling is supported by a fourth air stirrer on the backplate. As a result, the lamination of the ribs is denser, which, together with the heat-conducting tubes cylindrically sinking into the thermal chamber, predicts a very serious cooling performance (and this will certainly be needed).

The third duo with GB202 GPU is blessed with a thickness of 3.6 slots, 348 x 146 x 72 mm TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5090 and TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5090 OC Edition whose three-fan block, which operates semi-passively up to a temperature of 50 °C, has a thermal chamber design and sets twelve heat-conducting pipes in order.

The three air drive blades (with double ball bearings) are fused together in a ring-like manner, and the middle piece – similar to the traditional ROG Astrals – rotates in the opposite direction compared to the two extremes in order to reduce turbulence and therefore increase efficiency. The layer protecting the PCB, the two BIOS chips, the Aura Sync lighting or the phase-changing heat-conducting pad mentioned a paragraph ago can be unchecked this time too, however, large perforations on the metal back cover plate already help the ventilation of the aluminum slats.

256-bit featuring “only” 10,752 CUDA cores instead of 21,760 ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 and ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 OC Edition It uses 16 GB of GDDR7 memory, but apart from the differences in the components on the printed circuit board, it has the same circuit as its big brothers.

A TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 and TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 OC Edition in terms of appearance or basic structure, it again follows the path of its RTX 5090 relatives, but the number of heat pipes decreases from twelve to eight. There is no difference in the physical dimensions either, and the designers tuned the 16 GB GDDR7 memory to an effective clock signal of 30 GHz.

The 306 mm long, 126 mm high and 50 mm thick, 2.5 slot also promises a dual BIOS function Prime GeForce RTX 5080furthermore Prime GeForce RTX 5080 OC Editionwhich the manufacturer – despite their not particularly small size – already registers with the title “SFF Ready” (ie for compact machine housings). The design and configuration of the air stirrers of the three-fan, newly heat-chambered block are identical to those seen in the TUF products, and although the metal backplate is much more modest, the large air gap has not been spared. The stainless steel I/O frame is inhabited by three DisplayPort 2.1a plus one HDMI 2.1b output, and the variable light play is now out of the recipe.

The 332 x 147.3 x 64 mm, 3,275-slot ROG Strix GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and ROG Strix GeForce RTX 5070 Ti OC Edition abstains. The 256-bit newcomers have the same 16 GB of GDDR7 memory as the RTX 5080s, although the effective clock speed is reduced from 30 to 28 GHz. The rear cover plate, extended with a wide cut-out, returns to the so-called exoskeleton design, so it is connected to the frontal cover element sprinkled with addressable LEDs, and the other small things (phase-shift heat-conducting pads, special layer protecting the PCB, 0 dB technology, five video outputs ) are also included in the formula.

A TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 Ti OC Edition at first glance, they are spitting copies of the more serious TUF types (the difference is minimal, which can be seen mostly in the fusion of the backplate and front cover), although they are smaller than them. The essential specifications of the 329 x 140 x 62.5 mm, 3.125-slot duet remain unchanged within the series, but it is currently unknown whether the number of heat pipes – like the RTX 5080 – has remained eight.

(+)

A Prime GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and Prime GeForce RTX 5070 Ti OC Edition it also adheres to the parameters of its RTX 5080 brothers, but the 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM could not avoid the slightly lower effective clock signal (or fewer CUDA cores).

(+)

As the leader of the field offering the GB205 GPU and 6144 CUDA cores, the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 5070-et and ROG Strix GeForce RTX 5070 OC Editiont we can respect, which, as expected, copy the RTX 5070 Ti members of the series, only of course they come with 12 GB of GDDR7 VRAM – up to 28 GHz – and a 192-bit memory bus.
