The new specification will arrive in the spring and would offer high-performance data transmission spanning a greater distance.

VESA announced at this year’s CES that they are working on the new DP80LL, i.e. Low Loss cables, which would provide a four-band UHBR20 link in an active form, and with this, a distance of three meters could be bridged. Previously, with a passive cable providing 80 Gbps bandwidth, this limit was one meter, which was considered an unpleasant limit.

The new cable specification will be provided by DisplayPort 2.1b, which will arrive in the spring, and the corresponding DP80LL cables will hit stores in the coming months.

NVIDIA has already indicated that they are working on ensuring the compatibility of the DisplayPort 2.1b specification and GeForces, including the new DP80LL cables.
