So far, Samsung has avoided the Dolby Vision format in the classic TV sector in favor of its own HDR10+ standard. A turnaround can now be seen in the automotive segment: Samsung Display and Dolby have announced a new partnership.

A new collaboration between Dolby and Samsung Display will make powerful QD-OLED panel technology available to automobile manufacturers in the future. At the same time, Samsung’s QD-OLED displays will be compatible with the Dolby Vision IQ standard.

After PC monitor manufacturers such as Asus have already been able to upgrade QD-OLED display technology with the Dolby Vision image format, more and more QD-OLED displays from Samsung should be compatible with the Dolby Vision standard in the future.

Due to powerful RGB subpixel color light generation, Samsung QD-OLED displays achieve higher color light brightness, a wider color gamut and a larger color volume than conventional OLED displays. Advantages that are particularly noticeable in bright environments thanks to Dolby Vision IQ.

Samsung Display’s new QD-OLED tandem panel generation works significantly more efficiently and delivers even higher peak brightness than previous QD-OLED panels.
