(CES @ 2025): Gamers are again surprised by the new Lenovo Legion Tab (2025) with a 165Hz display

One of the hottest names in gaming is that of Lenovo and indeed the company has just launched a range of new gaming devices under the Legion brand – handheld consoles, laptops, desktops, monitors and also a tablet. His successor Legion Tab boosts performance, improves cooling, and is coming later this month.

The big upgrade to the Lenovo Legion Tab (2025) is the move to chipset Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and promises to bring a massive increase in performance over the previous version’s 8+ Gen 1.

You have to keep in mind that this is a $500 tablet. For that price, you get 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM (8,533MHz) and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Lenovo made the ColdFront vapor chamber 14% larger to improve cooling.

Also, another upgrade concerns the screen which, although still an 8.8-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 px (16:10), now has a refresh rate of 165 Hz (from 144 Hz). It’s also brighter, at 500 nits normally and up to 900 nits in high brightness mode. The display has 98% DCI-P3 coverage and supports HDR10.

The new chipset brings extra flair as well as new connectivity. Wi-Fi 7 (including the 6 GHz band) is now supported for a lower latency connection, as is Bluetooth 5.4.

As before, the tablet has two USB-C ports – one on the bottom and one on the side – with pass-through charging. This extends the life of the 6,550mAh battery and reduces heat if you use an external power source. Note that only one port is wired for fast data (10 Gbps), the other is USB 2.0.

Note that the Lenovo Legion Tab (2025) comes with Android 14 out of the box with Legion Space and Game Assistant, which will help you balance performance and battery life, as well as change various game-related functions. Lenovo promises three OS updates.

The tablet’s build quality is also impressive, featuring a metal frame (only available in Eclipse Black) that weighs the same as the previous model at 350g/0.77lbs, but is slightly thicker at 7.8mm/0.31” (from 7.6mm/0.30”).

On the subject of sound, there is a pair of 2712 hyperlinear speakers with Dolby Atmos support and two microphones. There’s a 13MP camera on the back (and a 2MP macro unit), the front has an 8MP camera.

Later this month the new Lenovo Legion Tab (2025) will be available in the US with a starting price of $500.
