CES 2025: HDMI version 2.2 is ready

The specification offers higher bandwidth and new capabilities.

The HDMI Forum has announced that the HDMI 2.2 specification has been completed, which provides twice the bandwidth of the current version, namely 96 Gbps. Of course, this will require new cables marked Ultra96, which will appear in the second half of this year and offer the performance level in question up to a distance of two meters.

A functional innovation will be LIP, or Latency Indication Protocol, which improves the synchronization of audio and video, especially on systems such as soundbars.

According to the HDMI Forum, the HDMI 2.2 specification will be sent out to partners in the first half of the year, so it will certainly not be included in the hardware that is arriving now.
