(CES @ 2025): New Lenovo Legion Go S announced coming in Windows and SteamOS versions

How does Lenovo succeed and strengthen public interest around the mobile gaming space? Quite simply, it was just announced at the CES technology event the first non-Valve gaming handheld to run SteamOS natively…. here is the new Legion Go S. This new handheld, which will also be sold in a Windows 11 Home edition, is a more affordable alternative to the Legion Go which was released in 2023.

As for its overall part, the Legion Go S is made of plastic and does not have removable joysticks. It can be configured with AMD’s Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor or the new Ryzen Z2 Go co-developed with Lenovo. The Z2 Go processor has 4x Zen 3 cores with eight threads and a maximum boost of 4.3Ghz along with an RDNA 2 GPU with 12 cores, 10MB cache and an adjustable TDP of 15-30W.

Lenovo is offering up to 32GB of 6400MHz LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of PCIe SSD on top Legion Go S models, while base models will start with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The Legion Go S features a custom ColdFront technology cooling system with a large fan and large heatsinks to keep everything under thermal control.

Everything is made even more enjoyable on this portable device thanks to a sharp 8-inch touch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 px (WUXGA) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen has an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a maximum brightness of 500 nits.

There are 23 buttons on the device, including Hall Effect joysticks with RGB lighting. I/O includes 2x USB4 ports (Thunderbolt 4, DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0), a headphone jack and a microSD card slot. The Legion Go S also features WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.

In terms of weight, the Legion Go S does not exceed 740 grams and has a 55.5 Whr battery that supports 65W charging and comes with an adapter.

In terms of colors, the new Lenovo Legion Go S is available in Glacier White and Nebula Violet.

On the one hand we have the basic Ryzen Z2 Go-owned Legion S with SteamOS that will start from 500 $ (16GB RAM and 512GB ROM) with deliveries scheduled for May.

On the other hand, there is also the version of Windows 11 with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage that will cost 730 $ and will be available later this month.
