Unsurprisingly, analog constructions were the focal point, and not just with a compact implementation.
During our outing in Las Vegas, we also ran into Keychron’s products, and the company came up with quite a few novelties in the segment of mechanical keyboards, paying special attention to analog switch solutions, which are increasingly popular among gamers these days.
The opening chord of the selection can be found in the Lemokey portfolio, which operates as a sub-brand of the manufacturer, named P1 HE-twhich is a wireless product with a 75 percent design, aluminum housing. The peripheral supporting the QMK firmware, which promises an extraordinary degree of configurability, works via cable and 2.4 GHz radio with a polling rate of 1000 Hz, but the three-device, 125 Hz Bluetooth is also not missing from its arsenal.
The double-rail Magnetic Nebula switches that benefit from the Hall effect of Gateron (but are also compatible with Dawn or Aurora) are located in the quick-change sockets of the model in question, currently with US ANSI allocation, on the stems of which double injection-molded Cherry profile PBT caps are installed, and a programmable dial was placed in the upper right corner. The gasket-mounted type, available in black or white, has three layers of damping inside, and to the delight of RGB fanatics, its addressable LEDs are oriented north.
Regarding the keyboard caps, there are light-transmitting and non-transmitting options, the stabilizers are fixed to the printed circuit board with a screw, and on the box of the apparatus weighing 1.63 kilograms, which can already be put in the cart, there is a price tag of $170 (net).
The Lemokey L5 HE 8K, which also has a metal housing and is 96 percent, will be launched during the first quarter. Its advantage is that both the sampling rate of the USB and the scanning rate of its buttons are 8000 Hz, plus the sensitivity of the HE switches can be adjusted ultra-precisely in 0.01 mm scales. to regulate.
The K4 HE, decorated with wood on its side parts, has the same format, whose 75 percent sibling we had the pleasure of getting to know in more detail a few days ago. The elegant design has not changed, only the number of buttons has increased. The 80 percent release is called the K8 HE, and both products are expected in the spring.
Many people’s eyes may light up at the 2.178 kilogram, now available for (net) $230 Q6 HE since it increases the size of the previously proven formula to 110 percent. Basically, it is the following: black or white, full CNC-machined aluminum housing, double gasket mount, aluminum plate, hot swap for magnetic Gateron 2.0 Double-Rail switches, factory greased, screw stabilizers, four layers of sponge coating, knob, QMK, 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth 5.2, OSA profile, opaque doubleshot PBT caps and 4000 mAh battery.
However, the traditional line was not completely neglected either, as we came across, for example, the one with a plastic housing, but it can also be ordered with a metal frame for some extra cost. K8 QMKas well as K10 QMK Version 2-bewhich are already available for purchase, and their pricing looks like this:
K8 QMK Ver. 2 (US ANSI, 80 percent)
- with white backlight, soldered switches – (net) $80
- With RGB, soldered switches – (net) $90
- With RGB, quick-change sockets – (net) $100
- RGB + aluminum frame with soldered switches – (net) $100
- RGB + aluminum frame, with quick-change sockets – (net) $110
K10 QMK Ver. 2 (US ANSI, 100 percent)
- with white backlight, soldered switches – (net) $85
- With RGB, soldered switches – (net) $95
- With RGB, quick-change sockets – (net) $105
- RGB + aluminum frame with soldered switches – (net) $105
- RGB + aluminum frame, with quick-change sockets – (net) $115
The keyboards with four layers of damping, guaranteeing a frequency of 1000 Hz, bring the above-mentioned stringless capabilities, and are equipped with Keychron Super Switch Red (45 gf, 4/2 mm, 19 mm double stage spring) with a linear characteristic – lubricated – by default. , slightly tactile Super Switch Brown (55 gf, 4/2 mm, 15.2 mm single stage spring) or more tactile Super Switch Banana (57 gf, 3.6/2 mm, 21.5 mm double stage spring) switches with a shortened path.
The LEDs are installed with a north orientation, while the stabilizers cling to the aluminum plate, and the angle of inclination can be set to a total of three levels (3.5, 7.7 and 11 degrees) thanks to the fold-out legs. The battery in these is also 4000 mAh, and the illuminated PBT keycaps, made by double injection molding, are tensioned in the Cherry profile.
