CFR Cluj, blow in the process with Roger from TAS! What a decision was made

New information has emerged about the trial between CFR Cluj and Roger from the Sports Arbitration Tribunal.

The TAS decision has been found and we can say that Nelu Varga’s team has delivered an important blow in this litigation.

CFR Cluj, blow in the process with Roger from TAS! What a decision was made

CFR Cluj sued Roger, its former player, at the Sports Arbitration Court. Transylvania should have paid a huge sum of money to the Brazilian, but they appealed FIFA’s decision to CAS.

The group from Gruia won the case in this process, as they inform GSP. Therefore, Nelu Varga, the owner of the club, no longer has to pay him the approximately 104,000 euros.

Roger Junio Rodrigues Ferreira played at CFR Cluj between February 2022 and February 2023, when FIFA declared him free of contract after the footballer complained to the club.

FIFA partially accepted the Brazilian’s demands, so CFR was made to pay around 104,000 euros: 6,992.78 euros in back payments and 96,617.89 euros in compensation for “breach of contract without just cause”.

According to the TAS decision, the club from Gruia still has to pay Roger only about 7,000 euros, a small amount compared to the one that FIFA had initially accepted. The player doesn’t escape either. The same TAS decision obliges the Brazilian to pay penalties of approximately 40,000 euros.

Roger complained about the CFR Cluj club to FIFA. What is the real reason

CFR Cluj wanted to make room for Ermal Krasniqi, so they decided to remove Roger from the A list of eligible players for the Superliga.

The Brazilian complained about the club to FIFA. The international forum acted and terminated his contract. Roger asked for significant damages from the Cluj club.

Specifically, 53,036 euros and 1,521 lei in the form of overdue payments and 342,000 euros as compensation for breach of contract.

In the end, TAS decided that it would not receive the requested amount of approximately 395,000 euros
