Ex-Councilor Salimullah Bachchu of Enayetbazar (Ward No. 22) of Chittagong City Corporation has been arrested by Thana Police.
He was arrested from Jubilee Road area around 8:30 pm on Tuesday (October 22).
The matter was confirmed by CMP Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Fazlul Quader Chowdhury.
He said that in the case of attacking Kotwali police station and looting weapons, vandalizing and burning the police station, a case has been filed showing 40 thousand accused including unknown ones, former councilor Salimullah Bachchu has been arrested in that case.
It should be noted that the Sheikh Hasina government was forced to leave power in the popular uprising of students on August 5. At that time, there was an attack on Kotwali police station as well as other police station in Chittagong city and the police station was looted, vandalized and burnt. Who actually committed the incident though is still under investigation.
