From now on, it is much easier and more accurate to search the web while using the chatbot.
OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, officially announced its launch the other day Search named service. With the help of the new AI-based function, ChatGPT is now able to provide answers with links to relevant web resources, and with its help, users can access “up-to-date sports results, news, stock market data and other information” via the chatbot – read the company’s post.
Already in July, OpenAI launched the prototype of its future search engine, SearchGPT, which 10,000 testers could initially try. Thanks to the feedback, the model has since gone through some wrinkles, so it is now also available in ChatGPT. According to the company, the search engine is based on “a fine-tuned version of GPT-4”.
During the chats – in addition to the links to articles and posts – a Sources button is also available, which lists the sources used for the given answer. OpenAI promises continuous development, especially for searches related to shopping and travel.
The new web search feature is available on all ChatGPT platforms, including the browser, mobile apps for iOS and Android, as well as macOS and Windows. However, it is important to note that at the moment only ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers and users on the SearchGPT waiting list can use it. Free access is expected to become available in the coming months.
