According to The Information, Samsung and OpenAI are in talks to form a partnership and integrate ChatGPT into Samsung’s Galaxy AI services.
Currently, Samsung uses its own advanced language model and Google’s Gemini AI system to power Galaxy AI features. It will be interesting to see how ChatGPT fits into all this.
For example, Apple uses OpenAI’s ChatGPT for its own Apple Intelligence solution, but only when the on-device models aren’t adequate for the task at hand. The system then requests help from ChatGPT.
We may see a similar implementation on Galaxy AI or ChatGPT’s service altogether. The report says the two companies are in the early stages of negotiations, so it is premature to make definitive comments.
OpenAI is becoming increasingly competitive against Google with the announcement of its Search service, and is now trying to snap up Google’s long-term partners like Samsung. The same report claims that OpenAI is even working on a ChatGPT-supported browser. The company has already hired developers who worked on Chrome.
