Chery Exports 120 Left Hand Drive Cars Made in Indonesia to Vietnam

DAPURPACUID – In 2023 the automotive sector recorded exports of CBU (Completely Built Up) vehicles of 500 thousand units and by parts of 122 million pieces.

Appreciation for the latest achievements of PT Chery Motor Indonesia through the export of the OMODA 5 Turbo, which is a left-hand drive car product, to the Vietnam market. “This is an important moment in increasing the contribution of the national automotive industry to the global market,” said Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Industry.

A total of 60 OMODA 5 Turbo units worth IDR 11.46 billion will be exported in this first batch, and there are still around nine batches that will also be exported to Vietnam until the end of December 2024. “With the presence of Chery Indonesia in the global market, we are increasingly showing the world that “We are able to produce quality vehicles with advanced technology,” said the Minister of Industry.

The Minister of Industry hopes that in the future PT Chery Motor Indonesia can increase the types, variants and number of units exported as well as export destination countries, not only to traditional markets such as ASEAN but also to enter new export markets such as Australia. This export volume can become a basis for Chery Motor Indonesia to invest to build its industry in Indonesia.

“Note to Chery, the TKDN value is still 40 percent, this figure can still be increased further, tips must be sought so that it can increase to 60 percent, the Government will continue to support all initiatives aimed at advancing domestic industry, including human resource training , investment in sustainable innovation and technology, as well as ease of regulation of business actors,” he stressed.

The national automotive industry is experiencing brilliant performance. In 2023, the four-wheeled motor vehicle industry will be able to produce 1.39 million vehicles, with sales in the domestic market reaching more than 1 million units. Meanwhile, in the period January – September 2024, the performance of the national four-wheeled industry was recorded
production value was 881 thousand units, wholesales was 633 thousand units, and exports were 343 thousand CBU units and 35 thousand CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units.

Chen Chunqing, Executive Vice President of Chery International, said that in the last two years, Chery Indonesia has launched several Tiggo and Omoda series product models in the local market, including ICE and BEV models. With its futuristic design, high-tech features and safety, Chery has received a lot of appreciation from Indonesian customers.
