Jatiyatavadi Chhatra Dal has given 27 proposals to the DU administration regarding the Dhaka University Students’ Union (DACSU) and Hall Parliament elections.
They presented their proposals in a press conference in front of the TSC auditorium on Wednesday afternoon. DU Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon read out the recommendations at this time.
Their main recommendations are:
1. Proposal to become ‘voter and candidate’ for all regular students of Dhaka University without age limit of 30 years to become ‘voter and candidate in Central and Hall Parliament election’.
2. Ensuring active and effective representation of students in every decision-making process of Dhaka University, upholding and nurturing the democratic culture and socio-economic values established through Bangladesh’s freedom struggle and liberation war.
3. DAKSU has always played a role to preserve and protect the rights of DU students and to undertake various programs and related initiatives aimed at raising awareness among students about civil rights, legal protection, digital security and media, so that students can exercise their rights properly and avoid fake news and rumours. can play a responsible role in prevention. Besides, undertaking training, workshops, seminars, counseling and other capacity building initiatives to develop leadership qualities, enhance skills, build confidence and build discipline, ethical values and responsible values.
4. DU convenes the Vice-Chancellor, forms an Advisory Council with Vice-Chancellor, Treasurer, Dean, Syndicate, President of Alumni Association and elected Vice-President of DACSU.
5. The president of Daksu will be elected directly from among the students.
6. To ensure the effective participation of women students, separate elections have been proposed for a total of two Vice-Presidents and two Vice-General Secretary posts for women and men students.
7. The Chhatra Dal has proposed to keep 5 new secretary posts in the executive committee of DAKSU including human rights and law affairs, health and environment affairs, gender equality and inclusion affairs, research and development affairs and employment and capacity building affairs.
8. By changing the rule of nominating a teacher of the vice-chancellor to the post of treasurer of Daksur, direct students vote for the post of finance secretary.
9. Conversion of the post of Secretary of Liberation War into Secretary of Liberation War, Democracy and 24 People’s Uprising.
10. Expansion of 13 posts in the executive committee of Daksu and appointment of deputy editors with each editor.
The proposals regarding the Hall Parliament are-
1. There is a proposal to directly elect the president from the students, excluding the principal.
2. Proposal to replace the post of Treasurer with an elected Finance Secretary.
3. The Hall Council consists of the Principal, two Highs Tutors, the President of the Alumni Society and the elected President of the Hall Council to form the Hall Advisory Council.
DU Chhatra Dal president Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, vice-president Anisur Rahman Khandkar Anik and organizing secretary Noore Alam Bhuiyan Anik and others were present in the press conference.
