Chinese production arrives in Italy, but for wind turbines and not for cars

Chinese companies and the Minister of MIMIT Adolfo Ursoa combination we have often talked about in recent months, always in reference to the automotive sector. The Italian government has long been looking for new companies that are willing to produce cars in our country, and has looked first and foremost at China.

Now it seems that a deal with a Chinese name is about to materialize, but not for the four-wheel sector. In fact, a meeting was held at the ministry headquarters with MingYang and Renexia, to talk about the data processing sector renewable energy.

MingYang Smart Energy is a world leader in the production of wind turbinesWhile Renexia is an Italian company active in the renewables sector. The two companies had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy for the establishment of a Newco for the production of wind turbines in Italy.

The new meeting was held in the presence of the president of MingYang, Zhang Chuanweiand of Riccardo Totogeneral manager of Renexia, to discuss different investment location options.

The deal had originated during Minister Urso’s mission to Beijing last July, with the meeting between the owner of MIMIT and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technologies of the People’s Republic of China, and subsequently signed on the occasion of the mission to China of the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.

The official statement explains: “By November 8, as envisaged in the MoU, the two companies will indicate the place where the new production site will be built, a choice that will be made in agreement with the competent ministries and local authorities. The industrial site, which will be operational by 2026, will provide employment to 1,500 people, with an investment estimated to exceed 500 million euros“.
