Urso’s visit marks the first official mission by a member of the Italian government following the recent legislative elections. The aim is strengthen relations with the new Dutch executivefor a pragmatic vision that also integrates the policies of the Green Deal and reduce administrative burdens on businesses.
The importance of a solid technological and industrial base for European defence was also highlighted in order to limit strategic dependencies. “Countries must work together to capitalize on each other’s strengths,” it is written in the joint statement.
During the meeting with the Dutch Minister of Economy, Dirk Beljaarts, the following were explored: the possible synergies in the semiconductor sectors and defence. This dialogue is part of a broader discussion on the EU industrial policy agenda.
Another aspect discussed was the‘trilateral initiative on the future of European industrypromoted by Italy, France and Germany. Urso proposed to extend this collaboration to other member states, including the Netherlands, focusing on specific themes.
Finally, the mission offered Urso the opportunity to meet numerous representatives of Italian and international companies active in the Netherlands, as well as investors in the semiconductor and renewable energy sectors in Italy, further consolidating bilateral economic ties.
