Google launches new Lens, Maps and Google Pay features to facilitate secure, personalized and fast purchases, both online and in physical stores.
Google has recently announced innovations technological solutions designed to revolutionize the shopping experience during this Christmas season.
With the use of artificial intelligence (AI), these tools are aimed at facilitating both online and in-store purchases, in addition to improving payment security.
Shopping in Stores with Google Lens
Google Lens, which already performs nearly 20 billion visual searches monthly, now includes new features to help shoppers make informed decisions right in stores. This technology allows users to:
- Get detailed information about specific products.
- Compare prices in real time within the store.
- Read buyer reviews and discover similar products in stock.
These improvements are possible thanks to the Shopping Graphwhich brings together data from over 45 billion product listings and advanced AI models like Gemini. Initially, the feature will be available for beauty, toys, and electronics products in stores that share their local inventory with Google. Android and iOS users in the US can now use these tools through the Google app.
Search for Nearby Products with Google Maps
Google Maps also incorporates new functionality to find specific products in nearby stores. When searching for an item, such as a Christmas sweater, users will be able to view local stores that have it in stock and browse their inventory.
This tool covers categories such as electronics, clothing, household goods, and even groceries. The feature will launch in the US in the coming weeks.
Secure and Convenient Payments with Google Pay
Google Pay expands its buy now, pay later financing options, adding new partners like Afterpay, with Klarna coming soon. Additionally, virtual cards, which protect user information by hiding real card numbers during online transactions, will be available to Discover users on Chrome and Android.
As part of its efforts to combat fraud, Google will also begin testing a service to help merchants identify fraudulent transactions and ensure that legitimate purchases are not blocked by mistake.
These innovations seek to simplify purchases, provide confidence to consumers and ensure secure transactions. With these tools, they hope to help users focus more on enjoying the holidays and less on the complications of the purchasing process.
