Ciolacu makes public, upon request, the document relating to George Simion

PSD leader, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, candidate of the formation in the presidential elections, declared on Friday, in Ploieşti, that he has the acceptance of the Ukrainian side to make public the response regarding the ban targeting AUR leader George Simion, his opponent in the race for the position of head of state.

“For several days I have seen this pressure to find out what I received as prime minister directly or through the intelligence services in Romania regarding the bans from the Republic of Moldova and from Ukraine of Mr. George Simeon, not of Mr. Ciucă or mine, and then I started the steps. In the Republic of Moldova, the answer was very simple, the things and measures taken a few years ago were maintained, as if it was Dodon or who was the president, I don’t know the whole history… So they didn’t give me additional things and, really, from Ukraine came a written reply. I started all the steps, my colleagues spoke, I also spoke directly and I am happy to inform you that, from this moment, because I still consider that it is not a document that should be put on the website of the Government of Romania, the Government of Romania is in charge precisely with something else, not why I received regarding Mr. Simion to put on the Government’s website… From this moment on, whoever makes requests on 544 will immediately receive the answer with the copy of the document received from the Ukrainian authorities”, stated the Prime Minister Ciolacu, in a press conference.

He pointed out that he has the acceptance of the Ukrainian side in this regard.

“There is nothing declassified. At this moment, I have the consent of the Ukrainian side to make this document public, explaining the context and the public pressure. (…) I suppose this is the crux, let’s find out the truth from Ukraine, the answer. Do you want to know the truth? Make a request on 544 and I’ll give you the letter from Ukraine regarding Mr. Simion”, added Marcel Ciolacu.

The leader of the PSD had, in Ploiesti, a meeting with businessmen from Prahova.

USR President, Elena Lasconi, asked, on Thursday, in a press conference held at the party’s headquarters, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice to self-report and verify whether President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Ciolacu or PNL leader Nicolae Ciucă, president of the Senate, have information about George Simion, from which it appears that he met with agents of the Russian secret service.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu declared, on Wednesday, that in the information he has from the governments of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, no reference was made to the fact that George Simion is a “Russian spy” or to the fact that he had meetings with any Russian spy.

UPDATE “Given the interest of public opinion in Romania regarding the correspondence between the Government of Romania and the Ukrainian authorities regarding the reasons why Mr. George Simion is prohibited from entering the territory of Ukraine, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu requested and received, through the competent institutions of the Romanian state, the agreement of the Ukrainian authorities to make available to the public the answer received and to make public information on this subject. The response of the Ukrainian authorities and information on this subject are available in the attached document,” the Government said.

“The decision was made on the basis of the available information regarding the systematic anti-Ukrainian activities of this politician, which contravene the national interests of Ukraine and violate its state sovereignty and territorial integrity. Simion George’s statements are aimed at discrediting Ukraine in the international arena and promoting the unionist ideology which denies the legitimacy of the state border of Ukraine. In addition, he spreads narratives about alleged violations of the rights of the Romanian minority in our country,” the document states.
