CIP will sign social consultation agreement – Labor Market

The Business Confederation (CIP) will sign the social consultation agreement with the Executive of Luís Montengro, the UGT and the other employer confederations.

In a written statement following a meeting, CIP management explains that “having verified an effort of convergence with their positions, decided to sign the Agreement Tripartite on Wage Valorization and Economic Growth”.

Despite having signed the agreement with António Costa in 2022, last year the CIP was the only employers’ confederation that was not in agreement with the previous Executive.

The proposal sent this Monday to the social partners provides for the reduction of the IRC throughout the legislature, although it drops the specific reference to the reduction of the IRC by two percentage points in 2025, which was included in the initial proposal. This is one of the issues that is complicating negotiations with the PS to make the State budget viable.

The tax exemption for non-regular performance bonuses was another of Armindo Monteiro’s demands, who however contested the fact that the agreement limits this possibility to companies that increase their base salary on average (like the lowest ones) by 4.7%. , a requirement required, however, by the UGT.

The Commerce and Services Confederation (CCP) had already announced that, despite criticism of measures it considers insufficient, it will sign the agreement, which is also expected to happen from the Agriculture (CAP) and Tourism Confederations ( CCP). The UGT was already mandated to sign a document identical to the one presented last week.
