Those who read me with some frequency already know that I am a staunch supporter of Circle to Searcha function that debuted without making too much noise at the beginning of 2024, and that over the months has been adding new and very interesting functions, in addition to growing in its reach, reaching (very little by little, yes) to more smartphone models, both from Google itself, creator of this function, and from Samsung, as it is part of the functions included in Galaxy AI.
For those who don’t know, Circle to Search started out as a feature that allows you to select part of what is being displayed on the screen and then perform a search on Google. This, in itself, is already tremendously useful for a multitude of cases, but throughout this year, we have been seeing (in some cases with official confirmation, in others as rumors and leaks) that its functions have been been increasing. You can check our history of publications about it, to verify that the search engine seems to be determined to make it a star feature.
As a result of the collaboration with Samsung, we experienced a very curious situation last January, and despite being one of the jewels in Google’s crown in terms of its proposals for Android, Circle to Search began to reach Samsung smartphones earlier than the Pixels themselves. It was, as I say, strange, but also a very good sign, since it already pointed in the direction that, if certain circumstances arise (circumstances that we are unaware of, of course) Google has no qualms about allowing it to make the leap to other manufacturers.
Well, if we thought that Samsung was an exception, now we can be clear that this is not the case. And, according to we read on 9to5Google, Circle to Search has already begun to reach Nothing Phone (2). More specifically, it is already available in the stable version of Android 15 for the Phone (2) and Phone (2a), while Phone (2a) Plus users will still have to wait, since at the moment it is only in the version beta of the OS build for this model.
Even more interesting is that Nothing has stated that Circle to Search will reach more of the brand’s devices. Of course, we can interpret this in terms of referring to the Phone (2a) Plus, in which it is not yet present, but it also makes sense to think (and it is worth hoping) that they are carrying out tests to bring it to the first generation of their smartphone. , something that would undoubtedly be excellent news for its users.
