Citizens and the economy of BiH spent 3.5 billion KM on fuel in nine months – Capital.ba

    • About 1,000 KM of fuel has been consumed per capita since the beginning of the year
    • The state earns one mark on each liter of fuel
    • There are no statistics on how much households spend on fuel

SARAJEVO – From the beginning of the year to the end of September, 1.6 billion liters were imported into Bosnia and Herzegovina gasoline, diesel, heating oil and other fuels with a total import value of 1.6 billion KM or an average retail value of more than 3.5 billion marks.

The import value of fuel means that it is a commodity before customs clearance, to which a number of duties are added: excise taxes ranging from 30 to 45 pfennigs depending on the type of fuel, and two tolls, for road maintenance 15 pfennigs and for road construction 25 pfennigs. Total from 0.7 KM to 0.85 KM. When VAT is added to all that, the state gets approximately 1 KM for each liter, plus the seller’s margin can be up to 0.25 KM per liter.

The Association of Oil Workers and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska say that there are no precise statistics on how much household consumption is, but that they know how much fuel is consumed.

“In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, between 920-950 million liters of fuel are consumed annually”, he said for CAPITAL President of the Association of Oil Derivatives Traders of FBiH Milenko Bošković.

Chairman of the Oil and Oil Derivatives Trade Group at the Chamber of Commerce of Srpska Đorđe Savić also says that there are no statistics on how much households consume, but he knows that about 40 million liters are consumed in mines and other large economic consumers.

“In the Republic of Srpska, about 650 million liters of various fuels are consumed annually, of which about 40 million go to mines and other facilities, which means that about 610 million liters of fuel are poured at the pumps”, said Savić for CAPITAL.

According to the statistics available to Savić, there are about 1,200 pumps operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina, about 500 in RS and 700 in FBIH, and the average sale per pump is about 130 million liters.

According to the data of the Administration for Indirect Taxation of BiH, in the first nine months of this year, the most diesel was imported – 1.4 billion liters, if we consider that the average price of diesel is 2.3 KM per liter, citizens and the economy in BiH spent over three billion KM (3,310,635,711 KM). 129.8 million liters of gasoline were consumed, and if we take the average price of 2.2 KM, 285.6 million marks were spent on this fuel. About 60 million KM was spent on heating oil, which is used the least.

The market weighs over 3.5 billion KM

If the number of imported liters by the end of September of 1.6 billion is divided by a simple calculation and the number of inhabitants in BiH of 3.5 million according to the last census, it means that 453 liters were consumed per capita in BiH. If we multiply that by the average price of 2.3 KM, it means that in BiH per capita, through the economy and private consumption, more than 1,000 KM was spent in the first nine months of this year.
